12.16.2000 Public Enemy Re-Launch Groundbreaking Website
(from Manhunt website) Words: Mike Diamonds

ROOSEVELT, NY (December 6, 2000)-Digital music pioneers, Public Enemy, announce the re-launch of their official website with added features and an all new look.

The group made headlines when they originally launched their official website, http://www.publicenemy.com in July 1998, becoming the first major label group to make their music available in the MP3 format.

Chuck D has communicated directly with his fans, and the press, on a regular basis in his infamous Terrordome column at the website. Many have fallen victim to the wrath of Chuck D and many have been the recipients of praise and accolades in the column. Whichever the case, Chuck has spoken honestly and from the heart and millions have tuned in over the years to get a fascinating peek into the mind of one of our generation's most respected and influential figures.

The site re-launching features an all-new user-friendly look and format, new MP3s and the long-awaited PE Shop featuring exclusive Public Enemy merchandise. The legendary Enemy Board continues to be a wealth of information from music to politics to world affairs, and the soldiers who frequent the Board now have their own section at the website.

Public Enemy has sold over 10 million albums in their 14 year career, each meeting with critical acclaim in publications as diverse as Time Magazine and The Source. They have toured the world several times over, performing more than 1200 concerts in 40 different countries. Known for their lyrics that address weighty issues of race, activism and inequality, the New York Times recently acknowledged Public Enemy's impact on popular culture by including their music in its list of the "25 Most Significant Albums of the Last Century."
